HND Urban Planning Syllabus

Cameroon's rapid urbanisation — particularly in Douala and Yaoundé — is creating enormous demand for qualified urban planners. With informal settlements expanding and city infrastructure under pressure, the need for systematic urban planning has never been more urgent.

The program covers spatial planning, urban management, socio-economic analysis, planning law, and statistical methods.

Government ministries, urban councils, and development agencies are the primary employers of urban planning graduates.

The HND Urban Planning (UPL) is a two-year higher technical education program offered by universities and institutes of technology under the Ministry of Higher Education in Cameroon. It combines foundational theory with practical, industry-relevant skills to prepare students for employment or further study.

National examinations for HND UPL are organised by the National Commission for the Organisation of the Higher National Diploma Exam. Students sit for papers across the courses listed above, following the exam framework set by the commission. Knowing the structure of each paper — including mark allocation and section breakdown — is essential preparation.
