HND Social Work Syllabus

Social Work addresses some of Cameroon's most pressing human challenges — child protection, poverty, family breakdown, disability, and mental health. SOW graduates are trained to intervene professionally and connect vulnerable people with support systems.

The program combines social work theory with practical fieldwork experience, giving you the skills to assess client needs, design interventions, navigate social welfare systems, and advocate for the most vulnerable in Cameroonian society.

With NGOs, government social welfare departments, hospitals, schools, and international organisations all needing social workers, HND SOW graduates have diverse employment options.

The HND Social Work (SOW) is a two-year higher technical education program offered by universities and institutes of technology under the Ministry of Higher Education in Cameroon. It combines foundational theory with practical, industry-relevant skills to prepare students for employment or further study.

National examinations for HND SOW are organised by the National Commission for the Organisation of the Higher National Diploma Exam. Students sit for papers across the courses listed above, following the exam framework set by the commission. Knowing the structure of each paper — including mark allocation and section breakdown — is essential preparation.
