The port of Douala is the economic gateway of Cameroon and one of the most important ports in Central Africa. Port and Shipping Management graduates are directly employable in this critical infrastructure sector.

The program covers the complete maritime ecosystem — ship knowledge, cargo handling, port operations, maritime law, and safety management. These are specialised skills that are scarce and therefore highly valued by employers in the shipping industry.

With Cameroon developing its maritime sector and regional trade through the port of Douala growing year on year, PSM graduates have strong long-term career prospects in shipping companies, port authorities, freight forwarding agencies, and maritime regulatory bodies.

The HND Port and Shipping Management (PSM) is a two-year higher technical education program offered by universities and institutes of technology under the Ministry of Higher Education in Cameroon. It combines foundational theory with practical, industry-relevant skills to prepare students for employment or further study.

National examinations for HND PSM are organised by the National Commission for the Organisation of the Higher National Diploma Exam. Students sit for papers across the courses listed above, following the exam framework set by the commission.
