Accounting and Finance provides a broad financial education covering both private sector accounting and the specific financial management of decentralised territorial communities — a growing area as Cameroon implements its decentralisation agenda.

The program combines general accounting skills with public finance, audit, and territorial management — making graduates versatile enough to work in both private firms and local government entities. This dual focus is a key differentiator from the pure Accountancy specialty.

With Cameroon's decentralisation reform transferring more resources and responsibilities to regional and local councils, the demand for qualified AFI professionals in public financial management is growing significantly.

The HND Accounting and Finance (AFI) is a two-year higher technical education program offered by universities and institutes of technology under the Ministry of Higher Education in Cameroon. It combines foundational theory with practical, industry-relevant skills to prepare students for employment or further study.

National examinations for HND AFI are organised by the National Commission for the Organisation of the Higher National Diploma Exam. Students sit for papers across the courses listed above, following the exam framework set by the commission.
