Air conditioning and refrigeration are essential services in Cameroon's hot climate — for homes, offices, hospitals, supermarkets, cold chain logistics, and industrial processes. ACR technicians are in constant demand.

The program provides practical training in refrigeration systems, air conditioning installation and maintenance, and the electronics that control these systems.

As urbanisation increases and more buildings install climate control systems, the demand for qualified ACR technicians will continue to grow.

The HND Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (ACR) is a two-year higher technical education program offered by universities and institutes of technology under the Ministry of Higher Education in Cameroon. It combines foundational theory with practical, industry-relevant skills to prepare students for employment or further study.

National examinations for HND ACR are organised by the National Commission for the Organisation of the Higher National Diploma Exam. Students sit for papers across the courses listed above, following the exam framework set by the commission.
